The empty amusement park has such a haunting allure… I shot these images of Rye Playland in the dead of winter where the eerie silence seemed exaggerated on that rainy cold day. The temporarily abandoned amusement park evoked an energy that was as melancholy yet has it was hopeful, reminding us that everything has a season and that come springtime echoes of laughter and joy would once again return. Shooting these images I was able to focus on the art and architecture of the grounds, preferring to focus on the abstract, the small detail as opposed to the whole story.
